Work Health and Safety Committee
The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Committee facilitates consultation between PWSS, Finance, and MOP(S) Act employees on a broad range of work health and safety issues, including developing work health and safety policies.
Work Health and Safety Committee members
The Committee is made up of Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) from each workgroup. Workgroups are based on party lines with the number of HSRs per workgroup proportionate to the number of employee positions in the workgroup. The Committee also includes union and management representatives.
HSRs have an important role in representing members of their workgroup and bringing WHS issues to the attention of the PWSS and the Department of Finance. HSRs are workers who:
- Represent other workers in their workgroup on health and safety matters
- Monitor how the PCBU is meeting their WHS duties
- Investigate WHS complaints from workers
- Enquire into WHS risks to workers.
Following a period of consultation, the WHS workgroup structure has been finalised as outlined in the table below.
