Support Person
This factsheet has been designed to provide information relevent to Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 MOPS Employees regarding the role of a support person and how it may be used for matters that arise in the context of their employment in a Commonwealth Parliamentary office.

Section
All people who work in Commonwealth parliamentary workplaces, past and present, have access to confidential, trauma-informed conflict resolution, support and assistance through the PWSS, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. MoP(S) Act staff and parliamentarians also have access to an employee assistance provider.
Section
All workers, including parliamentarians and MOP(S) Act employees, have a duty to take reasonable care that their behaviour does not affect their own health and safety, or that of other persons.

Bullying occurs when a person or a group of people repeatedly behave unreasonably towards you and the behaviour creates a risk to your health and safety. Harassment is unwelcome verbal or physical behaviour that intimidates, offends, belittles or humiliates a person or a group of employees because of particular personal characteristics.
