This section provides information for new and current MOP(S) Act employees from starting employment, to duties and services during employment, and then ceasing current employment.

The HR Advice team can assist with these matters and be contacted via 1800 747 977 (Option 2) or hr@pwss.gov.au between 9am and 5pm, from Monday to Friday.

Recruitment

Recruiting the right people is key to establishing a well-functioning office.

Probation

Probation is a period that enables both the parliamentarian and employee to determine suitability for a role. All new ongoing and non-ongoing employees should be placed on probation.

Performance management

Managers of MOP(S) Act employees are encouraged to have ongoing performance discussions with staff.

Ceasing employment and automatic termination

Guidance on ways employment may cease including resignations, terminations and automatic terminations.
