Media release: Launch of inaugural culture and performance survey for Commonwealth Parliamentary Workplaces
Leonie McGregor
Chief Executive Officer
Parliamentary Workplace Support Service
7 November 2025
On Monday 10 November 2025, the PWSS will distribute its first annual survey to measure culture and performance in Commonwealth parliamentary workplaces (CPW), in accordance with its reporting obligations under the Parliamentary Workplace Support Service Act 2023 (PWSS Act).
The survey aims to generate a better understanding of current culture and performance within CPWs, from the perspective of the people who work in them, and is open until the 12 December 2025.
It will be open to parliamentarians, people employed under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and others (such as employees of parliamentary departments, media employees, Australian Federal Police, COMCAR drivers, and departmental liaison officers) who are based in Parliament House, or in other CPW’s, including electorate offices.
All survey responses will be anonymous and individual respondents will not be identified. The response data will be stored securely to ensure the privacy and protection of individuals.
Results will form the basis of a report on what’s working well and where improvements can be made in Parliament House and other CPWs (including electorate office) across Australia. This will inform the PWSS’s ongoing work to support safe and respectful workplaces.
The PWSS intends to publish the report, following its presentation to the Presiding Officers in early 2026.
Answers to frequently asked questions about the survey can be found on the PWSS Website. Participants with questions can contact CultureSurvey@pwss.gov.au.
